Jessica Pegula has her eyes on the Billie Jean King Cup title after the United States reached the showpiece by beating Great Britain 2-0 in the semi-finals.

The 19-time champions will face holders Italy in Sunday's final, their first since 2018, after Emma Navarro and Pegula both won their singles matches by coming from behind.

In the first match, Sonay Kartal lost her serve in the first game of the opening set but fought back to take control by getting three breaks of her own.

However, Navarro forced a decider, converting her second set point, before back-to-back breaks in the final set swung momentum in her favour as she clinched a 3-6 6-4 6-3 win.

Pegula then followed that up with a comeback victory of her own, triumphing 3-6 6-4 6-2 over Katie Boulter in just under two hours.

Having endured the same result as Navarro after the first set, Pegula got back-to-back breaks to help clinch the second set before cruising over the line.

"Watching my team-mate Emma win earlier definitely motivated me a lot, the way she turned that match around," Pegula said.

"If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have been in such a great position to win the match.

"I had to find a way to compete. I felt like my level wasn't there; she was playing at a high level, but I was able to turn it around.

"It's the first time I will be in a final, it'll be a new experience, and there's no one better I'd rather share it with. We have an awesome team, we're excited to be back and hopefully take the title."

Data Debrief: Great Britain let chances go begging

The USA are through to their 31st final in the Billie Jean King Cup after earning their 10th win over Great Britain in 11 ties between the two nations.

But the story could have been different if Britain had been able to take the chances they made for themselves.

Kartal (eight) and Boutler (13) forced 21 break points between them, but only converted a combined eight.
