Pakistan are set to boycott their T20 World Cup clash with co-hosts India.

There have been doubts over whether Pakistan would participate in the tournament, amid ongoing political tension between the neighbouring nations.

However, on Sunday, Pakistan's government confirmed the squad had been given permission to travel to Sri Lanka.

But, the Pakistan government stated the team will not fulfil their Group A fixture against India on February 15.

"The Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan grants approval to the Pakistan Cricket Team to participate in the ICC World T20 2026," a statement, released on X, read.

"However, the Pakistan Cricket Team shall not take the field in the match scheduled on 15 February 2026 against India."

The ICC has yet to respond.

Bangladesh have already withdrawn from the tournament, having been replaced by Scotland. The competition begins on February 7, with Pakistan due to take on the Netherlands.
