Neergaard-Petersen 'at a loss for words' after dramatic Australian Open victory
Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen says he is "at a loss for words" after clinching his first DP World Tour title at the Australian Open.
The Dane secured a one-shot victory over home favourite Cameron Smith on Sunday, with the pair playing out a tense final round.
Neergaard-Petersen had entered the fourth round with a two-shot cushion and remained in control over the first nine holes, but things took a turn at the 10th as he suffered a bogey while Smith sank a 15-foot birdie to go joint-top of the leaderboard.
The pair carded more birdies but went into the last hole level, and Neergaard-Petersen held his nerve to convert for par and finish on 15-under.
Smith missed two putts to suffer a bogey on the 18th to help his opponent to victory, as he finished one shot back on 14-under.
"It's hard. I'm really at a loss for words. It's been a battle all day," Neergaard, who has secured a spot at the Masters through this win, said.
"Even from the outside, you can look calm, but it was a storm inside [for me] all day.
"But I managed to keep battling and to get it up and down to make that putt on the last. I don't know what to say, to be honest".

Rory McIlroy, meanwhile, had to settle for tied-14th place after recording 11 bogeys over four days. In the final round, he carded a 69 to finish eight strokes off the pace.
The Northern Irishman is now finished for the season and says he is looking forward to having a break to reflect on the year that saw him complete a career Grand Slam and win an away Ryder Cup among his achievements.
"I'm looking forward to a little break," he said.
"I've played a pretty heavy schedule post the summer with the Irish Open, Ryder Cup, and then, you know, I've sort of been globe-trotting a little bit the last couple of months.
"So excited to have a little bit of downtime and finally reflect on everything, maybe watch a few of the tournaments back. I have not really let myself do that too much.
"So looking forward to the Christmas break and put the feet up, a few glasses of wine and think back about what an unbelievable year it's been."
