NBA: Thunder stay perfect; Spurs, Bulls lose first
The Oklahoma City Thunder became the third team in NBA history to open 7-0 in back-to-back seasons with a 137-106 rout of the winless New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday.
Reigning NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with 30 points and seven assists for the defending champion Thunder, who joined the Boston Celtics (1963-65) and Houston Rockets (1993-95) as the only clubs in league history to start 7-0 in consecutive seasons.
Oklahoma City played without injured starters Chet Holmgren and Luguentz Dort but had a season-high eight players score in double figures.
“It feels like we’re a better team,” said Gilgeous-Alexander, who is averaging 33.6 points after leading the NBA last season with 32.7 per game.
“Obviously, we’re dealing with some injuries to start the year, but because we’ve gotten better one through 15 like the guys in the locker room, we’re able to plug and play and figure it out on the fly and still have good results.”
Zion Williamson had 20 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Pelicans, who fell to 0-6 and lost by at least 30 points for the third time in four games.

OG Anunoby contributed 21 points, Karl-Anthony Towns had 20 points, 15 rebounds and five assists, Jordan Clarkson scored 15 and Josh Hart added 14 points and nine boards to help New York (3-3) end a three-game losing streak.

Josh Giddey recorded his first triple-double of the season for the Bulls with 23 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists, while Nikola Vucevic scored 17 and pulled down 14 boards.
