Liverpool have parted ways with set-piece coach Aaron Briggs, with the Reds having conceded the joint-most goals from set-plays in Europe's top five leagues this season.

The announcement comes after Liverpool reportedly felt change was necessary, with the responsibility for set-pieces now lying with the remaining coaching staff.

Arne Slot's side have conceded 12 goals from set-pieces in the Premier League this term (excluding penalties), with no team letting in more across the big five European leagues.

Of those 12 goals, seven have come from corners – most recently during Saturday's 2-1 victory over bottom side Wolves – with only West Ham (10) conceding on more such occasions in the English top flight.

"Liverpool FC can confirm Aaron Briggs has departed his role as set-piece coach of the men's first team," a club statement read.

"Having joined the club in July 2024 – initially in the role of individual development coach – Briggs contributed to our Premier League title success last season as a member of Arne Slot's backroom staff."

Reigning champions Liverpool are fourth in the Premier League, 10 points behind leaders Arsenal, and host Leeds United at Anfield on New Year's Day.
