Lehecka into first ATP Masters 1000 final after beating Fils in Miami
Jiri Lehecka will contest his first ATP Masters 1000 final after a professional display saw him defeat Arthur Fils 6-2 6-2 in Friday's first semi-final at the Miami Open.
Lehecka will take on either Jannik Sinner or Alexander Zverev in the showpiece match, having not faced a single break point during his 75-minute victory in the last four.
Lehecka opened proceedings with a swift break of serve, and he barely offered any hope to Fils before breaking again in game seven and serving out the opening set in 34 minutes.
The 24-year-old had to wait until game three to break in the second set, but he won six of the final seven games as Fils – who had saved four match points in a marathon win over Tommy Paul in the previous round – cut a frustrated and fatigued figure.
Speaking afterwards, Lehecka said: "Of course, I’m very excited that I'm in a final. It was definitely one of my goals.
"It feels great. It's something I've been working towards the whole year and the whole pre-season. I really trusted my game and the work I put in.
"It didn't matter when, but I knew it would come and today was a nice example of how I want to play. I executed it well, so I'm very happy with today's performance."

Data Debrief: Back-to-back Czech champions again?
Lehecka could become the second Czech man to win the Miami Open in as many years, after Jakub Mensik downed Novak Djokovic in the 2025 final.
Two Czech players have previously won the men's singles in Miami in back-to-back years, with Ivan Lendl triumphing in 1986 and Miloslav Mecir following in his footsteps in 1987.
Since the tournament was founded in 1985, Czechia is the only nation other than the United States to provide two different champions in successive years.
