Felix Auger-Aliassime made light work of Marton Fucsovics to start his Rosmalen Grass Court Championships campaign in style.

Auger-Aliassime reached the French Open quarter-finals last week and is now up to number four in the ATP rankings.

And the Canadian had no trouble in dispatching Fucsovics 6-3 6-4 to reach the last eight in 's-Hertogenbosch.

"We don't get to play many tournaments on grass," Auger-Aliassime said.

"It's a surface I like. I've always felt good on the surface. It's nice to be back on grass, but in the first match, you're not sure what to expect."

At the Stuttgart Open, Taylor Fritz was made to work by Martin Landaluce.

Fritz eventually prevailed 6-7 (4-7) 7-5 7-6 (7-3), battling through to tee up a meeting with Mattia Bellucci.

Ben Shelton, meanwhile, is in a perilous position against Marcos Giron, who was ahead 6-7 (4-7) 4-4 when their tie was suspended due to wet grass and bad light.

Grass-court expert Fritz brings up landmark win

Fritz has won five Tour-level titles on grass.

Among active players, only the great Novak Djokovic (eight) has won more titles on the surface.

Fritz's victory also marked his 350th match win on the ATP Tour.

In 's-Hertogenbosch, qualifier Sho Shimabukuro downed wild card Nick Kyrgios 4-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 to advance to a maiden Tour-level quarter-final.

Shimabukuro is set to rise into the top 100 of the ATP rankings for the first time when they are published next week.
