Zheng loses Queen's opener while two-time Libema Open champion Alexandrova stunned
Qinwen Zheng was dumped out in the first round of the Queen's Club Championship after she was beaten in straight sets by Jaqueline Cristian on Monday.
Cristian overcame a rain delay to win 6-4 7-6 (7-4), though she will have to wait to find out who her opponent in the next round will be due to the weather conditions in London.
The Romanian will play either Katie Boulter or Leylah Fernandez, with that first-round match suspended until Tuesday after rain hampered the opening round of matches.
Fernandez took the first set 6-3 and was level at 3-3 in the second against wildcard Boulter, with only three matches being played in their entirety.
Home hopeful Harriet Dart came from a set down to beat Liudmila Samsonova 5-7 6-4 6-3, with Karolina Pliskova also doing the same to get the better of McCartney Kessler.

But there was play in Libema Open, with top seed Ekaterina Alexandrova stunned by Hungary's Panna Udvardy, who won 6-4 7-6 (7-5) in one hour and 38 minutes.
In addition, 17-year-old Mia Pohankova sent second seed Clara Tauson packing with an impressive 6-4 6-4 triumph.
However, there was no such trouble for defending champion Elise Mertens, who raced past Bianca Andreescu in straight sets with a 6-1 6-2 win.
On the ATP Tour, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina suffered an early exit at the hands of Mattia Bellucci, with the Italian winning 6-2 7-6 (7-5) 6-1.
Mertens out to make history in s-Hertogenbosch
With two-time champion Alexandrova and Tauson out early on, Mertens has a great chance of lifting her second title in the Netherlands tournament, and she would join a select group of players to win the crown more than once.
Along with Alexandrova, only Coco Vandeweghe, Justine Henin and Tamarine Tanasugarn have won the tournament more than once, and she will be keen to make an impression during the grass-court season after struggling on clay.
She exited in the second round at the French Open after losing to qualifier and beaten finalist Maja Chwalinska, though she has often fared well at Wimbledon. She reached the fourth round last year, equalling her best run in SW19, after 2022.
