A'ja Wilson hailed Jackie Young's impact on the Las Vegas Aces after she helped them to a 2-0 lead over the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA Finals.

The Aces beat the Mercury 91-78 on Sunday to extend their lead in the Finals before heading to Phoenix for Game 3 on Wednesday.

Aces' coach Becky Hammon has now won all nine occasions when playing a Game 2 in Las Vegas, with the average margin behind more than 17 points.

Young scored a game-high 32 points overall, with 21 of those coming in the third quarter, setting a new WNBA Finals record for the most points in a single quarter.

Wilson also contributed with 28 points and 14 rebounds. With her and Young combining for 60 points, it is the second most by a duo ever in the Finals, behind Jewell Loyd and Breanna Stewart's 65 in 2020 with the Seattle Storm.

Young had struggled in Game 1, finishing with 3-of-13 shooting, before leaving the court due to fatigue, but Wilson was glad to see her back at her best in Game 2.

"It's a joy [playing with Young]," Wilson said. "Take the numbers away, I'm just so proud of her.

"Honestly, like she's a perfectionist, and when you see someone who works so hard every single day, and then you get to see the hard work paying off, it's a beautiful thing to witness.

"I'm so grateful just to be her team-mate, to come to work with her every single day. I'm a pain in the a** sometimes when she's not doing her job, because I know that it's there.

"I know that Jackie Young's there. So, I try every single day to bring it out of her. To be able to witness it and live it has been a lot of fun."

The Mercury head back to Phoenix trailing, but knowing they have a good record, having already gone 3-1 at home in the playoffs.

Kahleah Copper led Phoenix with 23 points and Satou Sabally scored 22, but they did not take their chances, only making 5-of-28 from 3-point range (17.9%).

"We're excited to go play in our home arena," Phoenix head coach Nate Tibbetts said.

"Vegas did what they're supposed to do. I think we played a really good Game 1, and they came out and were ready [for Game 2]."
