Onyeka Okongwu heaped praise on Jalen Johnson, saying he "deserves everything" after his incredible performance for the Atlanta Hawks and the Utah Jazz.

Johnson led the Hawks to a 132-122 victory on Thursday, finishing with 31 points, 18 rebounds and 14 assists for the third triple-double of his career.

The 23-year-old recorded a career-high points total, coming close to a quadruple-double, having also got seven steals.

Atlanta also set an NBA season-high record of 24 3-pointers as they stretched their winning run.

But Okongwu, who also got a career high of 32 points, reserved special praise for his team-mate.

"He works so damn hard every day," Okongwu said. "He's putting time in – to this day.

"I love this guy. He deserves everything.

"Now we're going to rest up and prepare to make it five in a row."

The Hawks led by 13 at halftime, but Utah initially rallied at the start of the second half to cut the deficit before Atlanta took control once more.

Head coach Quin Snyder was also impressed by Johnson, hailing his all-around performance for helping the Hawks even as they lost their momentum.

"You know how I felt about him when I got here, just the feel that he has for the game," Snyder said of Johnson.

"He's got a diverse set of skills in terms of passing and handling. He's taking what the defense gives him.

"For any young player, one of the hardest things to do when you're having a good night's scoring and making shots is for all of a sudden, it starts collapsing on you.

"And then having the poise to find the open man is something that, feeling the game and reading it like that, it's tough to do. You can put the team on your back in a lot of ways."
