Guardiola on Man City's title chances: Fourteen games is a lot of games

Pep Guardiola urged Manchester City to keep their cool as he stressed there is a long way to go in the Premier League title race.

City surrendered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Tottenham on Sunday, as Dominic Solanke led Thomas Frank's team to a second-half comeback.

Rayan Cherki and Antonie Semenyo had put City on course for a win that would have seen them move back within four points of leaders Arsenal, who hammered Leeds United on Saturday.

Now, City are six points behind the Gunners, but with 14 league games remaining, Guardiola knows there is still plenty of time.

He told Sky Sports: "We are playing at a high level.

"We didn't have the consistency to win the games when others were able to do it – 14 games is a lot of games.

"Six points [gap to Arsenal]. We go to the next [game]."

Guardiola, however, was infuriated with Spurs' first goal being allowed to stand.

A VAR check deemed there had been no foul from Solanke as he kicked through Marc Guehi to drag the hosts back into the contest, paving the way for his stunning scorpion kick to seal a share of the spoils.

"Well, if you do it to a striker, it would be a penalty," Guardiola told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"I'm not a referee. [It's] fascinating in the Premier League."

Semenyo's cool finish had put City in control before the break. The winger has played five games for City in all competitions and scored in four of them.

He is just the second player to find the net in as many as four of his first five appearances for the Citizens as a Premier League club (from 1992-93), after Emmanuel Adebayor in 2009 (also four).

"They started to pick up momentum, creating chances and we started sinking deep," Semenyo told BBC Sport.

"The way we set up was to draw them out a little bit. It worked perfectly in the first half. I had another chance before my goal. I am kicking myself but we have to go again.

"Definitely [winning] would have helped our cause but it is not over yet, there are 14 games to go so anything can happen."
