Glasner '100% convinced' Mateta will give his best upon Palace return
Oliver Glasner confirmed Jean-Philippe Mateta does not need knee surgery and is "100% convinced" the forward will give his all when he returns for Crystal Palace.
Mateta had been very close to a January move to AC Milan, but the deal broke down due to the Frenchman failing his medical with a knee issue, which Palace feared may require surgery.
However, that outcome has not come to pass, though Mateta will still be sidelined for Palace's upcoming games, including their trip to Burnley on Wednesday.
But Glasner is sure Mateta will continue to put in his best performances when he is back in the team, despite his disappointment over the move falling through.
"Fortunately, he does not need surgery. The knee, the injury is not as bad as feared, and so we think we can deal with the knee in a better way than with surgery," Glasner said.
"He will miss a certain time, and hopefully, he is back soon.
"It's important for him now that it's clear he will be a Crystal Palace player, at least until the summer.
"I am 100% convinced that JP will give us his best when he wears the Eagles shirt again."

Palace returned to winning ways in the Premier League last time out with their 1-0 win over Brighton, ending their run of nine games without a victory to move up to 13th.
Burnley, meanwhile, suffered a potentially damaging 2-0 defeat to West Ham in their fight for Premier League safety, and remain 19th, 11 points behind Forest.
They have not won since the end of October, going 16 games without a league victory, and Scott Parker did not shy away from the danger his side is in.
"There is, and has been [positives], but at this moment in time, I am wary of that [being positive] because of the situation, certainly coming out of the back of the weekend," Parker said.
"I am not stupid, I understand where everyone is. Like I have said before, there have been many, many positives.
"I said it after the game [against West Ham], what changes it is winning. That's a word that's easy to say, but that is the only way us as a group, me as a manager, and this team can probably get some air. We can only get it by winning."
PLAYERS TO WATCH

Ismaila Sarr is Crystal Palace’s joint-top scorer in all competitions this season, netting 10 goals (level with Mateta), though he has the best shot conversion rate in the team at 23.3%.
In the Premier League, six of Sarr’s last nine goals have put Palace 1-0 ahead, including last time out in their win over Brighton.
Burnley – Jaidon Anthony
Jaidon Anthony is Burnley’s joint-top scorer this season with five goals, but he has failed to net in any of his last four since netting an equaliser against Manchester United.
Since he last hit the back of the net, he has had eight shots (two on target) but created just 0.4 expected goals (xG) from those attempts.
