Ford marks 100th England cap with 'great win' over Argentina
George Ford earned his 100th Test cap for England against Argentina on Saturday, noting that it was an important win for the team.
England earned a 35-12 win in La Plata and were led by Ford, who kicked 15 points and assisted one of his side's four tries.
Ford became just the eighth male player to reach a century of England Test appearances, having made his debut in 2014.
Steve Borthwick was without 13 first-choice players due to the British and Irish Lions tour, including captain Maro Itoje, leading to him fielding an inexperienced team, with Seb Atkinson and Will Muir making their international debuts.
And they impressed against the side that beat the Lions in their last game, racing into a 22-0 lead after 50 minutes and holding out as the Pumas crossed twice in a disappointing performance.
"We just wanted to perform well and win today. It's all about the team. It's a great win for us," Ford told Sky Sports.
"We were under pressure first half; we gave too many penalties away and didn't get out of our half enough.
"We needed to create some try-scoring opportunities, and we did in the second half. We know Argentina are going to come back at us next week, and it's a challenge we look forward to."
England have now won 13 of their last 14 matches against Argentina and will be looking to improve that record further when they face them again next Saturday.
