Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White believed her team's resilience was key to winning the WNBA Commissioner's Cup.

The Fever emerged victorious over the Minnesota Lynx, who are at the top of the Western Conference standings, 74-59, after overcoming a 13-point deficit.

Indiana's triumph was made even more impressive by earning the win without All-Star guard Caitlin Clark, who has been sidelined since June 24 with a strained groin.

But it mattered little as Natasha Howard led the Fever with 16 points, 12 rebounds and four assists on Tuesday.

Sophie Cunningham scored 13 points while Aliyah Boston, Aari McDonald and Kelsey Mitchell each scored 12 for Indiana.

Both Boston and Howard finished with double-doubles, with 12 and 11 rebounds respectively, while the latter also kept the WNBA's top scorer, Napheesa Collier, to just 12 points on 6-18 field goals.

White was pleased with the Fever's mentality after they entered the game as the underdogs.

"We have a resilient group, you know?" said White. "They're tough, mentally and physically. They pull for one another. I'm just really proud. We're going to continue to get better.

"Caitlin is a player who has a high usage rate, has the ball in her hands a lot.

"Learning to play without her, learning to make big plays in tough moments on both ends of the floor is important."

Clark, who was recently named as one of the All-Star captains, has now missed three consecutive games due to this groin injury.

She also missed five games earlier in the season with a quad problem.

White added on Clark's injury: "She's making progress. Top of mind is just long term, making sure we don't have any setbacks.

"Making progress and feeling good are two different things. And we want to make sure that she feels good, that she's confident. That's the priority right now."
