Clark: 'A big deal' for Fever to be in Commissioner's Cup
Caitlin Clark is excited to be in the Commissioner's Cup championship game with the Indiana Fever, citing it as an extra game that will help them improve further.
The Fever beat the Connecticut Sun 88-71 on Tuesday, securing their place as their win was coupled with an Atlanta Dream loss. They will be playing in the final for the first time.
Clark had 20 points, six assists and four 3-pointers to help Indiana to victory, though it was a physical game overshadowed by three late ejections.
With 46.1 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Connecticut guard Jacy Sheldon made a steal and raced the other way before being wrapped up by Sophie Cunningham under the basket for a hard foul.
Sheldon got up quickly and got into a shoving match with Cunningham, leading to that duo and Lindsay Allen all getting ejected.
Indiana are back over .500 for the first time since the third game of the season, while they have won both games since Clark's return from a quad injury, and she was delighted to help push the team through to the final.
"Obviously, we're excited. It's a big deal," Clark said. "It's a hard thing to do, and why wouldn't we celebrate that?
"We're getting to play for a pool of money – that's pretty fun – and you're competing to win a trophy. It's an extra game for us to get better, as well."

Indiana will face the Minnesota Lynx, who will be at home, in the Commissioner's Cup final on July 1, in a game that does not count in the standings.
The Lynx booked their place in the championship game with a 76-62 win over the Las Vegas Aces, giving them the chance to defend their title.
Minnesota had to do it the hard way, trailing 39-30 at half-time after their lowest-scoring half of the season so far, but rallied to victory as Courtney Williams scored 18 of her 20 points in the second half.
Head coach Cheryl Reeve would not let focus slip away from the WNBA schedule yet, with four games to go before the final.
"I think the players are excited about that," Reeve said. "For our fans, I think it's exciting.
"We know our opponent in Indiana is someone we haven't seen yet. It's great, but we have to put that in the drawer for now. We have other games we've got to work through."
