England optimistic over Ecclestone injury for World Cup semi-final
England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt revealed that she expects Sophie Ecclestone to be fit for their Women's World Cup semi-final against South Africa.
Ecclestone fell awkwardly on her left shoulder while fielding in England’s final group match against New Zealand on Sunday.
The left-arm spinner is England’s joint-leading wicket-taker in the tournament so far, joining Linsey Smith on 12 dismissals.
Ecclestone is the world’s top-ranked bowler in one-day internationals and picked up a wicket against New Zealand despite only bowling four deliveries before leaving the field for treatment.
The England and Wales Cricket Board released a statement that said: “Results of an MRI scan on Ecclestone's left shoulder indicate a minor injury to the joint next to her collar bone.
“She will continue to be assessed ahead of the semi-final against South Africa.”

But captain Sciver-Brunt told BBC Sport: “We're expecting her to be all right.
“Sophie is such a huge player for us so it'll be great for her to be on that pitch tomorrow.”
England won the group-stage fixture against the Proteas by 20 wickets after bowling them out for just 69 runs in 20 overs.
The winners of Wednesday’s semi-final will face either India or Australia in the final.
