Stephen Curry says he prides himself on "longevity", after tying Michael Jordan for an NBA record during the Golden State Warriors' victory over the San Antonio Spurs.

Curry scored 49 points as the Warriors rallied to prevail 109-108 on Friday, and claim their first win of this year's NBA Cup.

It was the 44th time the 37-year-old has notched up 40-plus points in a game since turning 30, equalling the record set by Jordan.

Curry held up a two and a three with his fingers in tribute to the six-time NBA Finals MVP, who wore that number for most of his glittering career.

"I threw it up backward though," Curry said. "That's the second time I've done that.

"But that's pretty cool just from an individual accomplishment perspective. Longevity is something I pride myself on."

Curry, who scored 40 or more points in successive NBA games for the first time since 2022, also lifted the lid on the pre-match team talk conducted by head coach Steve Kerr.

"He rarely talks about his Chicago days," Curry said of Kerr, who played alongside Jordan at the Bulls. "He gave some references to how they approached their team, and their identity by comparison to a band coming together.

"You've got your lead singers, your bass, your acoustic, electric, drummer, stagehands, guys plugging in the speaker. He said he was just above the guy plugging in the speaker."

The Warriors are now 8-6 in the 2025-26 season, with a matchup against Western Conference bottom side, the New Orleans Pelicans, up next.
