Jaylen Brown says any doubts over his ability fuel him to do better after putting in a sublime 50-point performance for the Boston Celtics against the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Celtics ended their five-game road trip with a 146-115 win over the Clippers, with Brown matching his career high, getting 19 points in the third quarter alone.

He was also 18-of-26 from the floor, while Derrick White went 10-of-20 as he racked up 29 points to help Boston to a 4-1 record on this run.

The 29-year-old also took the lead on defending Kawhi Leonard, who had averaged 39 points during the Clippers' six-game winning streak. On Saturday, he managed just 22 points.

"I seek those challenges," Brown said. "I feel like it brings the most out of me.

"Obviously, Kawhi is one of the greats, so I wanted to start on him. And I just seek those matchups. I like when my back is against the wall.

"When people doubt, it fuels me. So, even though it'd be nice to get some respect, keep it up. I definitely use it as fuel."

The last time Brown scored 50 points was back in January 2022 against the Orlando Magic, and he says he had a good feeling about how the game would go.

"I knew before the game," Brown said when asked how he had found his rhythm.

"In warmups, I could just feel like every shot, the ball was coming off my hand super clean.

"My footwork felt great. I did salsa last night. Had some great salsa classes. So, I felt good as soon as I walked into the arena."

Boston are now just half a game behind the New York Knicks for second place in the Eastern Conference.
