Jarrod Bowen conceded West Ham "had the chances to take the three points" during their goalless draw with Bournemouth.

The Hammers missed the opportunity to move level on points with 17th-place Nottingham Forest, though they had plenty of chances to score.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side could have snatched victory deep into second-half stoppage time, when Bowen blazed over from close range.

West Ham's tally of 20 shots was their most in a Premier League match this season. It was also their most without scoring in a home league game since December 2022 (22 against Brentford).

The Hammers finished with 2.87 expected goals to Bournemouth's 0.65 xG, though while Bowen was frustrated, he highlighted the importance of West Ham not leaving the contest empty-handed.

"We played with energy and created some chances," he said. "It is a point, but we could have turned that into three points, which would have been ideal.

"We take every point in this situation and take the positives from the performance.

"We need points, but you also need performances to go with it and we didn't lose the game. That's important. We've had games this season where we played okay and lost because of a loss in concentration.

"I think we had the chances to go and take three points. We need confidence, but also results.

"We've all got to keep stepping up. In the situation we are in, we need everyone pointing fingers and people accepting that responsibility. Now, we have to fight our way out of it."

Bournemouth, meanwhile, extended their unbeaten streak in the Premier League to seven matches. The closest they came was when Rayan hit the post in the second half.

However, the Cherries failed to capitalise on seventh-place Brentford losing to Brighton, and Alex Scott insists they must win games of this magnitude in order to push for European qualification.

"It was a tough game, maybe a good point when we look at it back," the midfielder said. "They're a tough side, and they're fighting for their lives and been really good the past few weeks.

"I don't think we were particularly good today. We had a few chances here and there, and they were good on the counter. A point is probably a fair result.

"We've got a chance [to push for Europe] and we're playing well at the minute. There are so many other teams, it's really tight at the minute between sixth, seventh and all the way down to 12th.

"We'd love to compete and be at that level, but there are so many more games to play, and we have to keep this form going. Games like that, you probably need to win to really push for the European places, but we'll take the point and keep pushing."
