J.B. Bickerstaff credited the Detroit Pistons for being ruthless after they recorded their biggest-ever margin of victory on Sunday, routing the Brooklyn Nets 130-77.

Jalen Duren led five Detroit players in double figures with 21 points, while no Nets player bettered the 12 points put up by Cam Thomas and Drake Powell on a miserable outing.

Detroit's 53-point victory surpassed the Pistons' 52-point triumph over the Boston Celtics in January 2003 (118-66) for the most comprehensive in franchise history.

Brooklyn, though, suffered an even heavier loss less than two weeks ago, going down by a 120-66 scoreline against the New York Knicks on January 21.

The Pistons' largest lead on Sunday was 55 points, and Bickerstaff was delighted with the way they kept their foot on the gas and did not allow any hint of a fightback.

"You know, there were games earlier this season where we got a big lead," Bickerstaff said.

"And then, we let our foot off the gas a little bit and fumbled the lead and had to figure out a way to win it in the fourth quarter.

"We talk about it all the time. We never expect to start the season as good as we expect to finish it. And for us, it's always about taking those steps of continuing to improve.

"And you find different ways and areas where you need to improve. I think our guys have continued to do that."

The Pistons have won eight of their last 10 games to improve to 36-12, comfortably the best record in the Eastern Conference.

Bickerstaff continued: "These guys put in so much work and so much time, and they sacrifice so much for one another, for the ultimate goal of being able to get out there and help.

"Tonight was a great night for that. But I'm most pleased with how we continued to play to our standard. That was the most impressive part."
