Jofra Archer will miss England's ODI series against West Indies with a thumb injury.

The seamer, who has been hampered by back and elbow problems in recent years, suffered his latest setback while on Indian Premier League duty with the Rajasthan Royals.

Archer will subsequently be absent from the upcoming ODI series, which begins on May 29 and will see Harry Brook lead his nation for the first time as white-ball captain.

The 30-year-old is also set to miss the first of the England Lions' four games against India A, which run from May 30 until June 6.

Archer featured prominently during England's white-ball tour of India, while his performances represented a rare positive during an otherwise difficult Champions Trophy campaign, in which he took six wickets in three matches.

Luke Wood has replaced him in the squad, with the Lancashire left-arm seamer looking to claim his first wickets in what will be his third ODI.
