Woods to miss The Masters after 'stepping away' in break from golf
Tiger Woods will miss The Masters after the 15-time major champion revealed he was "stepping away [from golf] for a period of time" following his involvement in a car crash.
Woods was arrested on suspicion of DUI after he was involved in a rollover crash on Friday. He submitted a written plea of not guilty via his legal team on Tuesday.
The 50-year-old also released a statement saying he would be taking time away from the sport to focus on his health.
"I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in," Woods said in a statement posted to his social media accounts.
"I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health.
"This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.
"I'm committed to taking the time needed to return to a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally.
"I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time."

While Woods – a five-time winner of The Masters – did not specify that he would sit out of the first major of the season, Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley confirmed he would not be taking part or appearing at associated events at the course next week.
The Masters will begin on April 9, with Rory McIlroy the defending champion.
"Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters Tournament fully support Tiger Woods as he focuses on his well-being," Ridley said in a statement.
"Although Tiger will not be joining us in person next week, his presence will be felt here in Augusta."
Woods was absent at Augusta last year due to injury and has not played in an outdoor tournament since missing the cut at the 2024 Open Championship.
But after recovering from back surgery and an Achilles injury, Woods was building towards a comeback, competing in the TGL indoor golf league last week.
The PGA Tour has also issued a message of support to Woods, saying: "Tiger Woods is a legend of our sport whose impact extends far beyond his achievements on the course.
"But above all else, Tiger is a person, and our focus is on his health and wellbeing. Tiger continues to have our full support as he takes this important step."
