Morgan Rogers says the performances of his Aston Villa team-mates have given him the "belief and confidence" to thrive, following his brace against Manchester United.

The England international scored twice as Unai Emery's side prevailed 2-1 at Villa Park, registering their 10th straight victory in all competitions to move within three points of Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Rogers is the first Villa player to score two or more goals in successive Premier League appearances since Dion Dublin in November 1998.

At 23 years and 148 days, Rogers has scored 21 goals in all competitions since the start of last season, making him the youngest player to find the net 20 or more times for a top-flight team during this period.

"I'm really confident and enjoying my football, but it's not just me, it's the whole team," he told Sky Sports.

"The team's performances give me that belief and confidence and allow me to be me. That's the most important thing. Our team performances are getting us the wins, not just me, so a big game and big win.

"It's massive. Every game is important, against no bigger team than United. They are a tough team to play against, and we have not had a good record against them recently, so we wanted to put it right, and we are just really happy with the three points."

Villa have won 10 consecutive matches as a top-flight team for the first time since a run of 11 in March 1914, and Rogers paid tribute to the Villa Park faithful, though he played down his side's title chances.

"The fans make football. It is so enjoyable playing here," he added. "We have the crowd behind us, and you can see it in our performances. Each and every one of them come here every game and make it a great place to play."

"You make those conversations [about our title chances], not us. We're firmly focused on the task at hand and handling it each game."
