Tyson Fury has confirmed he will return to the ring in 2026, once again reversing his decision to retire from boxing.

The former world heavyweight champion has not fought since losing to Oleksandr Usyk for the second time in December 2024, having already lost to the unified champion in May of the same year.

The 'Gypsy King' stated a month later that he was retiring, but there had been growing rumours that Fury would seek a comeback this year, with a domestic showdown with Anthony Joshua having been touted.

Posting on Instagram, Fury confirmed: "2026 is that year. Return of the Mac. Been away for a while, but I'm back now. 37 years old and still punching.

"Nothing better to do than punch men in the face & get paid for it."

Fury has had previous for announcing his retirement only to later step back into the ring, doing so most recently prior to this in April 2022 after beating Dillian Whyte, then returning six months later.

The 37-year-old has two reigns as world champion to his name, and a professional record of 34 wins, two defeats, and one draw.

His speculated fight with Joshua had been on the cards for some time, with the latter calling out his long-term rival after beating Jake Paul late last year.

However, there is now some uncertainty over the fight taking place after Joshua was involved in a car crash in Nigeria, which claimed the lives of two of his close friends.
