Rockets to acquire Durant from Suns
The Houston Rockets are set to land Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 overall selection in Wednesday’s NBA Draft and five second-round picks.
The eighth-leading scorer in NBA history with 30,571 points, Durant joins his fourth team since leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors prior to the 2016-17 season.
Durant was the NBA Finals MVP in each of Golden State’s back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018 before the Warriors’ three-peat bid ended with a six-game loss to the Toronto Raptors in 2019 after Durant tore his right Achilles in Game 5 of the Finals.
The 15-time All-Star then signed with the Brooklyn Nets a month later but sat out the entire 2019-20 campaign due to the Achilles.
Durant’s run in Brooklyn was injury-plagued, and the Nets dealt him to Phoenix in February 2023.
Since leaving the Warriors, the four-time Olympic gold medallist has not advanced past the second round of the play-offs.

Phoenix went 36-46 this season and missed the play-offs, with Durant appearing in 62 games and averaging 26.6 points, six rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.24 blocks.
The 36-year-old Durant now joins a Houston team that finished second in the Western Conference this season with a 52-30 record before losing to the Warriors in seven games in the first round of the play-offs.
Phoenix gets younger with Green, the second overall pick in 2021, who averaged 21 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists while appearing in all 82 games this season for Houston.
Green has played in 186 consecutive games, tied for the third-longest active streak in the NBA.
Brooks started 75 games this season, his eighth in the NBA, and averaged 14 points and a career-high 3.7 rebounds while knocking down a personal-best 186 three-pointers.
