Riemer hails 'unbelievable' Leeds performance despite defeat
Leeds United assistant manager Edmund Riemer lauded the team's "unbelievable" performance against Manchester City, noting that Daniel Farke's late red card was "harsh".
Antoine Semenyo struck the decisive blow for City just before half-time in the 1-0 victory, with Farke being sent off following the full-time whistle for complaining to the officials.
Leeds had been dominant in the first half, racking up eight of their 14 shots, with their only two attempts on target also coming before the break.
City upped the pressure after the break to stay in control of the match, with Leeds suffering just their third defeat across their last 15 Premier League games (W4 D8), with all of those defeats coming against teams who finished in last season's top five (also Newcastle United and Arsenal).
And Riemer was full of praise for Leeds' performance despite the result.
"It was an outstanding performance again, we put a big shift in and once again it was an unbelievable performance for the lads," Riemer told Sky Sports.
"We try to recover well and be there again against Sunderland on Tuesday to produce another great shift.

"We should have scored a goal. I don't think we allowed too many chances; it was quite equal. But we concede at the worst possible time. The ball down the line was difficult to defend. They waited for this one moment, and fair play to them.
"We tried to push, but of course, we can struggle against a world-class team. We had moments to score, it was a shame that we didn't score."
When asked about Farke's sending off, Riemer added: "I had a short chat with him. There were incidents, there was time-wasting. They got a yellow card in added time. Six minutes.
"You are emotional, and then he ran on the pitch, and he got a red card, I think he said for what. Perhaps it was too aggressive. He rarely gets sent off. He is never aggressive and rarely gets sent off, so I think it is harsh."
Leeds remain 15th in the table, six points clear of the relegation zone after seeing their three-game unbeaten streak come to an end.
