Reese's trust pays off after setting WNBA rebound record
Angel Reese says she trusted herself to come through a storm after making WNBA history in the Chicago Sky's win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday.
Reese became the first WNBA player to grab 15 or more rebounds in four consecutive games, with her 16 boards against the Sparks helping Chicago to a 92-85 win.
She had 19, 17 and 18 rebounds in her previous three games, averaging 17.5 rebounds during this run.
Reese recorded a season-high 24 points on 10-of-19 shooting and got seven assists on Sunday, with 11 of her points coming in the fourth quarter as she helped the Sky overturn a deficit.
"I always say to myself before every game, 'God doesn't give me any storm that I can't handle'," Reese said.
"I went through a storm through the first eight games where I couldn't finish, and it was frustrating.
"But I trusted my work, and my teammates trusted my work in finally coming through and coming through efficiently."

The Sky have alternated between losses and wins in their last four games, though their win over the Sparks improves their record to 5-11.
Ariel Atkins (20), Kia Nurse (14), Rachel Banham (13) and Elizabeth Williams (12) also scored double figures, and while head coach Tyler Marsh hailed Reese's impact, he also noted Williams' important contribution.
"[Angel and Elizabeth] set the tone early. Those two asserted themselves inside," said Marsh.
"Angel was incredible tonight. Obviously missing KC, she had to do a little bit more. You can't say enough.
"It's little things she does as well that doesn't get the notice. She's found a way that speaks to her maturity growing into this position and system."
