Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the upcoming Madrid Open, meaning her absence from the WTA Tour will stretch on for at least two more weeks.

Raducanu has not competed since being knocked out of Indian Wells in the round of 32 in straight sets by Amanda Anisimova.

She has struggled to shake off a viral illness, which first affected her back in February, during her competitions in the Middle East.

The 2021 US Open winner has won seven and lost seven of her matches in 2026, though she is still waiting to make her first appearance on clay this season, having pulled out of the Linz Open.

Raducanu also missed the Miami Open and is facing a race against the clock to find her fitness before the French Open, which begins in just under a month.

Her next opportunity to play will come at the Italian Open, with the main draw beginning on May 5.
