Newcastle United have handed midfielder Lewis Miley a new six-year contract, rewarding the 20-year-old for a strong individual season.

Though Newcastle fell well short of their lofty ambitions in 2025-26, finishing 12th in the Premier League and failing to deliver another trophy after their EFL Cup triumph a year earlier, Miley fared well.

He made 23 Premier League appearances, 15 of which were starts, scoring one goal in the top-flight and assisting four.

His 1,493 minutes played in the 2025-26 Premier League were the fourth-most by any player currently aged 21 or under, after Wolves' 18-year-old forward Mateus Mane (1,790), Manchester United's 20-year-old Leny Yoro (1,739) and Bournemouth's 19-year-old attacker Junior Kroupi (1,683).

He missed the final few weeks of the campaign after fracturing his fibula, but after committing his long-term future to his boyhood club, he is enthusiastic about what is to come.

Miley told the club's website: "I'm really pleased to sign this new contract and commit my future here.

"It's a dream to be representing Newcastle United, so this is a proud moment for me. It's been an amazing journey so far, and I'm so excited for what's ahead.

"I'm now working hard every day to get back on the pitch even stronger next season and start to repay the faith that has been shown in me."
