David Moyes admitted Everton must improve at Hill Dickinson Stadium if they are to realise their goals, following Monday's 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.

Everton produced a solid display at home to Michael Carrick's in-form side, but a superb counter-attacking goal from Benjamin Sesko in the 71st minute proved decisive.

The Toffees flung 10 corners into Senne Lammens' penalty area but failed to make their set-piece pressure count, while they also had more shots (12 to 11) and shots on target (four to three) than United in a tight contest.

But they have now lost more Premier League games at Hill Dickinson Stadium this season (six) than they did in the entirety of their final campaign at Goodison Park in 2024-25 (five).

Everton are also winless in six matches on home soil since beating Nottingham Forest 3-0 on December 6 (two draws, four losses), and they have won 21 of their 37 points away.

While only three teams have a better road record than Everton in the Premier League this season, only six sides have picked up fewer points on their own turf (16).

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Moyes was complimentary of elements of Everton's performance but noted they must find ways of picking up points at home.

"I'm not happy with the scoreline. We have to win games if we're going to move on," he said. "We've not been doing that quite as much as we'd like to, especially at home.

"But, performance-wise, we have lost narrowly to Manchester United. We narrowly beat them at Old Trafford earlier in the season.

"We were the ones celebrating then, and now it's them. I think we did well in lots of ways. We got done on the counter-attack, I thought we put in great effort to try and get the goal, but we just lacked the quality to get it."

Sesko's goal came with Everton caught short-manned at the back, with Matheus Cunha playing a wonderful ball into the path of Bryan Mbeumo from near the edge of his own box.

Mbeumo then faced up Michael Keane, who was all alone as he backtracked, before slotting a pass across the area for Sesko to finish first-time.

"I've had a look at it. We had a midfielder crossing the ball into the box. We had a left-back in there. We just weren't organised off the ball," Moyes said of United's goal.

"I have to praise them for their quick attack, but we've seen them do it recently. They've been doing it really well. They've got forward players who have that ability to run away and make chances.

"Most of the game we controlled it pretty well, but in that moment, we switched off and gave them that opportunity."
