MLB-leading Trout fuels Angels, Dodgers fall to Diamondbacks
Mike Trout hit his MLB-leading 16th home run of the season as the Los Angeles Angels defeated the struggling Texas Rangers 6-2.
Three-time American League (AL) MVP Trout homered in the fifth inning to give the Angels a 4-1 lead on Thursday – a 449-foot shot into the second deck.
Angels rookie Jared Walsh also homered for the third time in five games after his go-ahead three-run effort in the opening inning at Globe Life Field.
The Angels (18-27) are fourth in the AL West, five games adrift of the New York Yankees (22-21) in the race for the final playoff spot, while the Rangers (15-28) are last in the division.

Freddie Freeman homered twice for the National League (NL) East-leading Atlanta braves, who overturned a five-run deficit to beat World Series champions the Washington Nationals 7-6.
Brady Singer flirted with a no-hitter in just his ninth MLB start as the Kansas City Royals routed the Cleveland Indians 11-1. Singer carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning. He finished with eight shut-out innings on 119 pitches.
