Adam Duvall said it felt "pretty special" to become the first player in franchise history with multiple three-home-run games as the Atlanta Braves sent records tumbling against the Miami Marlins on Wednesday.

Duvall achieved something Braves legends Chipper Jones and Hank Aaron were unable to by hitting a trio of homers in the team's uniform for a second time, as he helped his team to a 29-9 win at Truist Park.

The left fielder's previous three-homer game came just seven days prior against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Atlanta's 29 runs set a record in the National League in the modern era (since 1900), while 18 of them came from homers to tie the record for a single MLB game.

"That list of names, it's pretty cool to be the only one who has done it. I don't know if it's completely sunk in yet," said Duvall, who became the only MLB player since RBI became an official stat in 1920 to have at least three home runs, nine RBI and two walks in a game.

"It's pretty crazy to be honest. I've known that homers come in bunches, but something like that is pretty special. I'm going to enjoy this one tonight.

"That's a big night - 29 runs is the NL record I believe. That's just top to bottom, we were on tonight and everybody's batting well. That's big going down here in the stretch. You always hope to play well down the strip and hopefully we can carry it into this long road trip."

Duvall's stunning display saw him make more MLB history by becoming the first player to hit a two-run homer, a three-run homer and a grand slam in that order in a game.

Asked if he had been given the ball from his grand slam, he replied: "I haven't, no, not yet. Hopefully they will be able to find it with all the cameras in the park and obviously there are no fans out there. That would be cool and pretty special to get."

Freddie Freeman reached the 1,500-hit milestone with a two-run homer in the third inning off Marlins reliever Jordan Yamamoto and drove in a career-high six runs.

"That was pretty amazing to be a part of. I've never seen an offense click like that all together. Pretty amazing. It's really hard to put into words really," said Freeman.

"When you look up and see 29 runs on the board, it's kind of amazing. Adam Duvall, wow. Absolutely incredible what he's done, not only tonight but the past 10 days. Pretty amazing. It was a fun offensive night to be a part of."

Travis d'Arnaud, Ozzie Albies and Ronald Acuna Jr also contributed to the seven home runs in an incredible display from the Braves.

Manager Brian Snitker said: "It's 2020. Things that are weird are happening here."
