The Minnesota Lynx are focusing on the journey, rather than their destination, as they bid to improve on last year's runner-up finish in the WNBA.

The Lynx have made a 2-0 start to the 2025 season despite playing on the road twice, beating the Los Angeles Sparks 89-75 on Sunday after defeating the Dallas Wings on Friday.

Napheesa Collier led the way with 23 points, and Alanna Smith added 18 while accounting for four of 10 made 3-pointers by the defending Western Conference champions.

The Lynx were beaten 3-2 by the New York Liberty in last year's WNBA Finals, but rather than put pressure on themselves to go one step further, they are seeking to build momentum throughout the course of the campaign.

"I think we're focusing this year on the journey, we're not focusing on the outcome that we had last year," Smith told reporters in Sunday's post-game press conference.

"I think we're aware that we have the potential to be a championship team, but it's about the games and the steps to get there.

"We often talk about how we played last year and the games that we played last year and how hard it was, and I don't think we had many blowout games.

"So it's about getting those games in the regular season done and winning those games before even thinking about the end."

The Lynx are one of two teams to have made a 2-0 start alongside the Washington Mystics, ahead of three straight home games against the Wings, the Connecticut Sun and the Seattle Storm.

Guard Courtney Williams, who had 13 points and 10 assists on Sunday, is determined for Minnesota to protect their home court after a successful start on their travels.

"We feel good. Like I said, we understand that it's not going to come overnight, but we're feeling good," she said.

"We've gone and ruined two people's home openers. So hopefully we won't get ours ruined!  We're trying to lock in."
