London City sack Precheur despite being sixth in WSL
London City Lionesses have sacked manager Jocelyn Precheur midway through their debut Women's Super League season.
Precheur led London City into the WSL for the first time in their history last term, and has overseen a successful first half to the campaign.
They sit sixth in the table, with five wins and six defeats so far, but they are 12 points clear of bottom-place Liverpool, making the decision to let Precheur go a shock.
In their statement, London City said the decision to dismiss Precheur was not linked to results, but with an eye on the future.

"Following careful consideration, the club believes that now is the right time to begin a new cycle and pursue a different strategic direction for the next phase of its development," read a statement released on the club's website.
"London City Lionesses sincerely thanks Jocelyn Precheur and his coaching staff for their professionalism, commitment, and significant contribution to the club's recent sporting success, and wishes them every success in their future careers."
Precheur took charge of London City in June 2024, signing a three-year deal, and won the Women's Championship. The Lionesses made history by becoming the first independent club to reach the top flight.
He oversaw 40 games in total, winning 24 of those (D4 L12), averaging 1.9 points per game and finishing with a win rate of 60%.
