Korda downs Paul to win all-American Delray Beach Open final
Sebastian Korda claimed the third ATP Tour title of his career as he downed compatriot Tommy Paul in straight sets to win the Delray Beach Open final.
Korda, who was beaten in the 2021 showpiece by Hubert Hurkacz, went one step further on Sunday with a 6-4 6-3 victory over the fifth seed in one hour and 22 minutes.
The pair traded blows in the first set as both players tried to force an opening, and it was Paul who was the first to blink as Korda broke in the 10th game to edge in front.
However, back-to-back breaks of serve opened the second before Korda raced into a 3-1 lead after getting the better of Paul's serve at the third time of asking in the fourth game.
Korda was then forced to dig deep after finding himself 40-0 down when serving for the match, saving all four of the break points he faced as Paul's frustration began to grow.
And the win was sealed after a lengthy rally, with Paul's fierce forehand landing just over the far baseline as Korda fell to the floor to complete a fine week in Florida in style.

Data Debrief: Korda flies the flag in Florida
Korda beat the likes of Casper Ruud and Flavio Cobolli en route to the final, and he delivered once again here to ensure he moved up to 40th in the ATP rankings.
The 25-year-old became the ninth American to win the tournament, and the first since Taylor Fritz lifted his second title with his win over Paul in the 2024 edition.
He was also the first unseeded champion to win the Delray Beach Open since Moldova's Radu Albot seven years ago, and Korda will be keen to carry that momentum to Acapulco, where he faces Mattia Bellucci next.
