Iraola 'very upset' with Palace penalty that cost Liverpool clean sheet
Andoni Iraola was "very upset" with the decision to award Crystal Palace a penalty late in Liverpool's 3-1 win at Selhurst Park.
Alexis Mac Allister headed Liverpool in front in the 40th minute and Florian Wirtz doubled their advantage when he swept Bradley Barcola's pass into the bottom corner 14 minutes after the restart.
Alexander Isak made it three in the 89th minute but referee Tony Harrington pointed to the spot after Milos Kerkez and Dario Osorio clashed heads while vying for the ball in stoppage time.
Eddie Nketiah converted the penalty and left a bitter taste in Iraola's mouth.
"I am very upset because the ones in our box they are calling penalties and in the other box they are not. I know we are 3-0 up and it's the 95th minute but I'm very upset," Iraola told Sky Sports.
"It's a head to head but even then it's Osorio to Milos. It's a clash of heads. You can say it's 3-0 but, for me, there is more because it is not the first time this season. I'm really upset.
"The VAR took a lot of time. When you call a penalty and they take two minutes – two repetitions, three repetitions – they are finding a way not to be called by the VAR. A clean sheet is not cheap in the Premier League and we wanted to win 3-0.
"It is not just because of this penalty, it's because of a lot of things."
Crystal Palace 1-3 Liverpool Liverpool secure all three points with a 3-1 win at Selhurst Park. Palace are now bottom of the Premier League table following their latest defeat.

Having seen his team bounce back from their 3-2 loss to Fenerbahce in the Champions League in midweek, Iraola added: "You want to finish with a win. It puts us in a better position but we need to keep improving.
"Now we are all praying because during the last international break we lost three players and now, it is the last thing we need. I hope everything goes well and we don't lose anyone this time."
Jorgen Strand Larsen had a goal ruled out for offside shortly before Mac Allister's opener, while Alisson was forced to make six saves to keep Palace at bay.
"It's fairly tough to take. We come in at half-time as the better team by far. We created opportunities, we had one ruled out, hit the crossbar, then our Achilles heel again: set pieces," said Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
"Obviously, go in 1-0 down but still full of belief and went after it first 15 minutes of the second half but just couldn't find a way through.
"It's tough when you're chasing the game. We've been done by three counter-attacks really, which is tough to take.
"We just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net and it's tough to take when things are going against you. Then every chance they seem to get goes in. That performance first half, if we play like that every game we'll pick up a lot of results. We pick ourselves up and go again."
Liverpool have earned more points away from home in the Premier League this season than any other side (13). It is the Reds' joint-most ever from their first five away matches of a league campaign.
Palace, on the other hand, have conceded 24 Premier League goals this season, their most in their first 10 matches of any league campaign since 1980-81 (also 24).
