Former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner suggested Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has "got it quite easy at the moment".

During Horner's 20-year career with Red Bull, he went head-to-head with Wolff on numerous occasions for the championship titles.

Horner was relieved of his duties at Red Bull last July, following the British Grand Prix. He led the team to eight drivers' and six constructors' titles in his time at the team.

This season, it is Mercedes who are on top of the pile in both championships, leading the constructors' by 134 points, while Kimi Antonelli has a 102-point lead in the drivers'.

Red Bull, by contrast, are fourth and 246 points behind Mercedes with 11 podiums and two wins, both claimed by Max Verstappen across the last two race weekends.

A potential return to F1 for Horner remains a possibility, though in an interview earlier this year, Wolff suggested he had "broken a lot of glass" during his time in the sport.

But Horner hit back at the claim in an interview with The Guardian, saying: "He [Wolff] also said this [Red Bull] engine was going to be completely s*** and a disaster.

"Toto's got it quite easy at the moment. [Head of McLaren] Zak Brown is compromised because he's using Toto's engine, so he can't ruffle feathers.

"All sport needs rivalry, whether it's [Alex] Ferguson and [Arsene] Wenger, [Jose] Mourinho and [Pep] Guardiola.

"It percolates and polarises. I used that to galvanise good people to take on Mercedes."
