Hamilton: Ferraris must work together to stop Verstappen in Singapore
Lewis Hamilton believes he must "work as a team" with Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc if they are to stop Max Verstappen from winning the Singapore Grand Prix.
Verstappen, who won the sprint race earlier on Saturday, took pole in Singapore after setting a lap time just 0.054 seconds quicker than Leclerc in the final session.
Hamilton, who topped the timesheets in Q1 and Q2, qualified in third for Sunday's race, while championship leader Kimi Antonelli completed the second row.
With an average of 13.38 points per race in 2026, this is Hamilton's best scoring average in a Formula One season since 2021 with Mercedes (17.61), though he acknowledged he would need Leclerc's help if they are to deny Verstappen victory this time around.
"Red Bull have done a fantastic job. They did a great job with their engine but also their car. It's a great team," said Hamilton.
"They brought an upgrade in Baku which has put them at the front. It's still a good result for us.
"With two Ferraris up there, we can hopefully work as a team on Sunday to hold onto Max and put them under pressure. That's the only way it's going to be.
"I'm sure he's going to be fast but, hopefully together as a team, who knows? We will see if we can get ahead."

For Verstappen, it marked his first-ever pole in Singapore, and now he will look to win around the Marina Bay Street Circuit for the first time in his career.
"Of course, I'm very happy to be on pole because this is the one I wanted. Very happy," said the Dutchman.
"The car has been pretty strong all weekend. There are always things that can be better, but it was enough for pole, so very happy with that.
"We have been on a positive trend, so for us, it's very special to take pole here."
