French Open: Raducanu no match for defending champion Swiatek
Emma Raducanu's miserable record against Iga Swiatek continued as she was outclassed by the French Open champion in their second-round meeting.
Swiatek emerged a 6-1 6-2 victor over Raducanu in one hour and 19 minutes, with the Pole extending her winning record over her opponent on Wednesday to five matches.
After being unable to convert a break point in the first game, Raducanu levelled the score but quickly lost her way as fifth seed Swiatek rattled off five games in a row to take the opening set.
Though Raducanu started positively in the second, Swiatek quickly moved a break ahead at 2-1, but was made to save three break points in an enthralling fourth game.
From there, Swiatek surged to victory, with Raducanu offering little resistance in the final three games as she bowed out of the tournament in the French capital.
"I don't know, you guys tell me! I think it's probably the top spin that I play with. Honestly, I just love playing here," Swiatek said on her 23-game winning run at Roland-Garros.
"This place inspires me, and that makes me work harder. I think having some time off before helped me a little bit for sure, so I'm just ready to fight for it and compete."
Up next for Swiatek is the winner of Sara Bejlek's encounter with Jaqueline Cristian, which takes place later on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, Jasmine Paolini moved into the third round with a routine win against Australia's Ajla Tomljanovic.
The fourth seed, who was a runner-up at Roland Garros last year, swept Tomljanovic aside in a 6-3 6-3 victory.
Fresh from lifting the WTA 1000 title in Rome last week, the victory was Paolini's eighth in a row, her longest streak at WTA level.
Indeed, she is also the Italian with the most consecutive women's singles grand slam third rounds reached in the Open Era (six, Australian Open 2024 - Roland Garros 2025), equalling Roberta Vinci (Wimbledon 2012 - US Open 2013).
It was also smooth sailing for Zheng Qinwen, who booked her place in the third round with a 6-2 6-3 win over Emiliana Arango.
Data Debrief: Queen of Clay marches on
Swiatek is the only player to reach the third round in all the 21 singles grand slam events played since 2020, men's included.
The second-best in this span is Novak Djokovic with 18 wins out of 21, ahead of his round two clash with Corentin Moutet at Roland-Garros on Thursday.
Indeed, among players who debuted in women's singles grand slam events since 1990, only Serena Williams (104), Martina Hingis (105) and Venus Williams (106) have earned 90 such wins in fewer matches than Swiatek (109).
