Fitzpatrick brothers make PGA and European Tour history as Alex triumphs in India
Alex Fitzpatrick triumphed by two shots at the Indian Open to ensure he and brother Matt became the first pair of siblings to win PGA and European Tour events in back-to-back weeks.
Europe's Ryder Cup star Matt Fitzpatrick edged out David Lipsky to win the Valspar Championship in Florida last week, having narrowly missed out on the Players Championship crown one week earlier.
And the family had another reason to celebrate on Sunday as Alex Fitzpatrick – who is four years younger than Matt – beat Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra in Gurgaon.
It was the 27-year-old's first triumph on the European Tour, having been four shots behind defending champion Lopez-Chacarra going into the final round.
"I'll try and explain without crying," he said when asked to describe his feelings afterwards. "It's been a lot of hard work for a long time.
"As much as this is the most amazing thing in the world right now, there's more important things in life than golf, so... I'm probably going to cry, but yeah, I'm ecstatic.
"It can be hard sometimes when you're constantly chasing someone's accolades, but luckily, it's my brother.

"It's extremely nice to join him in the winners' ranks, and hopefully I can continue to push on.
"I idolise him, so I'm just trying to be like him in every way, so yeah, hopefully we can keep doing well."
