Liam Rosenior insisted Enzo Fernandez remains "fully committed" to Chelsea despite casting doubt over his future following their Champions League exit in midweek.

Chelsea were dumped out of UEFA's flagship competition by defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, who won 8-2 on aggregate after a 3-0 second-leg triumph.

The Blues suffered their joint-heaviest defeat on aggregate in a two-legged knockout tie in the competition (alongside 7-1 vs Bayern Munich in the 2019-20 last 16).

And Fernandez, who joined Chelsea for a then British record of £107m from Benfica in January 2023, said "I don't know" when asked if he wanted to stay at Chelsea.

The 25-year-old added: "There are eight games left and the FA Cup. There's the World Cup, and then we'll see."

Fernandez has been a key part of Chelsea's success this season, registering 18 goal involvements (12 goals, six assists) in all competitions in 2025-26.

"I had a great conversation with Enzo at length this morning before training, not just about his comments but how he is feeling, how as a team we can improve," said Rosenior.

"He is one of the captains at the club and what I will say is that he made it really clear how happy he is here at this club, how much he wants to win and how passionate he is for us to be successful.

"He also said that in translation and in emotion, things get misconstrued. For me, he is fully committed to this group and to winning here at this football club."

Their two defeats to PSG came either side of a 1-0 loss to Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge, denting the Blues' prospects of returning to the Champions League next season.

Chelsea have now failed to win three consecutive Premier League home games (D2 L1) for the first time since a run of five between September and November 2023 (D2 L3).

Rosenior's side are assigned just a 20.1% chance of a top-four finish, with that probability jumping up to 45.3% for fifth place, which is likely to secure a spot in the Champions League in 2026-27.

"Every manager goes through difficult weeks," said Rosenior.

"I've had challenging periods before. I've lost games in many jobs, like all managers have done. We need to find a way to fight at Everton and come through a difficult period."

He added: "You want to be in the Champions League. It makes everything clearer, not just from a financial point of view.

"This club deserves to be in the Champions League. That's the target."
