England thrash United States in Women's Rugby World Cup opener
Ellie Kildunne, Jess Breach and Lark Atkin-Davies scored two tries each as England thrashed the United States to open the Women's Rugby World Cup on Friday.
Playing in front of a tournament-record crowd of 42,723 at the Stadium of Light, hosts England ran in 11 tries to get their Pool A campaign off to a sensational start.
Sadia Kabeya, Hannah Botterman, Abby Dow, Amy Cokayne and Maud Muir also went over for England, who were runners-up to New Zealand in the last edition just under three years ago.
Sixteen teams will be competing for the trophy over the next five weeks, with the final scheduled for Twickenham on September 27.
