Rory Darge was delighted with Scotland's work after they ran in seven tries to defeat Samoa 41-12.

Licking their wounds after a 29-14 defeat to Fiji last week, Scotland bounced back to ensure they ended their Pacific Tour in style.

Ewan Ashman, Rory Hutchinson, Arron Reed and Kyle Steyn crossed in the first half in Auckland.

Grant Gilchrist, Kyle Rowe and George Turner went over in the second half to cap off a fine win for Gregor Townsend's team, who did concede to tries from Ben Nee-Nee and a determined Duncan Paia'aua.

With Scotland missing key players due to injury or British and Irish Lions duty, captain Darge was thrilled with their response, especially given the pressure was on to perform.

He told Premier Sports: "Samoa were outstanding, we knew they would be tough opposition.

"The things we did better around the breakdown and discipline made the game smoother for us - delighted with the performance.

"The support is great. When it's on the other side of the world, it's even more impressive."

Scotland are now not in action until November, when they take on the United States, New Zealand, Argentina and Tonga.
