Ten-man Leeds United held on for a hard-earned point in a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace, despite Dominic Calvert-Lewin's missed penalty at Selhurst Park.

Daniel Farke's side played over 45 minutes with 10 men after Gabriel Gudmundsson was dismissed in first-half stoppage time, but the visitors stood firm for a share of the spoils.

Leeds carried the greater attacking threat during the opening period. Brenden Aaronson volleyed narrowly wide and Calvert-Lewin saw a header just about kept out by Walter Benitez, the goalkeeper making his Premier League debut as a replacement for the unwell Dean Henderson.

However, the visitors squandered a great opportunity to break the deadlock in the 45th minute when Calvert-Lewin dragged his penalty wide after Will Hughes had handled in the box.

Leeds suffered another setback soon after when Gudmundsson, who was booked for dragging down Brennan Johnson earlier on, was shown a second yellow card for a rash challenge on Ismaila Sarr.

Palace thought they had taken the lead in the 78th minute when Jefferson Lerma, who was brilliantly denied by Karl Darlow, headed in at the second attempt from close range. However, Johnson had strayed offside during the build-up from a short-corner routine, and both sides left with a point each.

Data Debrief: Gudmundsson matches Viduka as Leeds pay the penalty

Leeds are the only team on record (since 2003-04) to have a player sent off in the first half and not concede a single shot on target in the same Premier League match.

Since the start of the 2022-23 season, only Liverpool (six) and Fulham (five) have failed to convert more penalties than Leeds in the Premier League (four), after Calvert-Lewin was unsuccessful from 12 yards.

Gudmundsson then became the first Leeds player to be shown two yellow cards in the first half of a Premier League match since Mark Viduka in May 2004 (against Bolton Wanderers).

There were just 190 passes completed during the first half; the fewest in the opening half of a Premier League game since Burnley's clash with Cardiff City in April 2019.

Palace, who started a Premier League game with Henderson for the first time since March 2024 (78 matches), failed to score in successive home outings in all competitions for only the second time under Glasner.
