Manchester United interim boss Michael Carrick has been named the Premier League Manager of the Month for January.

Carrick has made a fantastic start since he took over following Ruben Amorim's dismissal on January 5.

He led United to four straight wins, with two of those – 2-0 against Manchester City and 3-2 at Arsenal – coming in January.

Carrick's winning run was snapped by West Ham on Tuesday, with Benjamin Sesko scoring late on to salvage a 1-1 draw.

United's turnaround has seen them move into the top four. They are one point above Chelsea and three above Liverpool, who are sixth.

Brentford striker Igor Thiago, meanwhile, scooped the Player of the Month Award for January.

Thiago netted five league goals in January, including a hat-trick against Everton.

The Brazilian scored two more goals than any other player in the competition across January, and registered the highest expected goals (4.2).

Only Fulham's Harry Wilson (18) had more shots than Thiago (17) in the Premier League last month.

It was a good day all round for Thiago on Friday, as Brentford confirmed he had penned a new long-term contract to keep him with the Bees until 2031.
