Thunder star Holmgren set to return Friday
The NBA-leading Oklahoma City Thunder will have star forward Chet Holmgren back in the lineup for the first time since early November when they host the Toronto Raptors on Friday.
Holmgren averaged 18.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.89 blocked shots in Oklahoma City's first nine games before fracturing his right hip in a fall against the Golden State Warriors on November 10.
He was the runner-up to San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama for NBA Rookie of the Year last season after appearing in all 82 games for the Thunder and averaging 16.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.32 blocks.
Oklahoma City did not miss a beat while Holmgren was sidelined, going 32-7 to move to the top of the NBA standings with a 40-9 record.
Just in: Thunder star Chet Holmgren is off the team's injury report, clearing the way for him to return to action Friday against the Toronto Raptors in OKC. At 40-9, Thunder's remainder of regular season will feature reintegrating Holmgren into the young, rising title contender.
