Wimbledon: Raducanu tempers hopes ahead of all-British first round
Emma Raducanu is not expecting to go far at Wimbledon this year due to undisclosed personal reasons and a back injury.
Raducanu, who was knocked out in the second round at Eastbourne, has been suffering from a back problem over the past few tournaments.
The British number one was drawn against Mimi Xu in the first round at Wimbledon, and could end up facing first seed Aryna Sabalenka in the third round.
Since her 2021 US Open triumph, Raducanu has only gone beyond the third round at one grand slam, losing to qualifier Lulu Sun in the fourth round at Wimbledon last year.
However, her win ratio of 70% at SW19 (7-3) is the best of any British woman since the turn of the century.
Raducanu is not feeling optimistic heading into the tournament, but is still grateful to play at the grand slam.
"Truthfully, I don't expect much from myself this year," said Raducanu. "I've been dealing with certain things. I just want to go out there and embrace the moment, embrace the occasion.
"I know there aren't many opportunities to be playing at Wimbledon. You get it once a year and for a finite amount of time. I'm just looking forward to going out there and feeling the surroundings and the atmosphere."
"Right now, I'm just happy to be at Wimbledon. I think that is a great motivation to just keep going and deal with everything else afterwards."

The 2021 US Open champion will face Xu on Court One on Monday, but is anticipating a tough challenge from the 17-year-old.
Raducanu added: "I think it's a very dangerous match, very difficult. Mimi is a really, really good player. I practised with her a few times. She has a lot of weapons; moves really well.
"For her, it's one where there's nothing to lose. I remember when I had my first Wimbledon here, and I was 18. It's a great feeling. You just feel completely fearless.
"It's going to be a challenge, but one I'm looking forward to, and I'm ready for. I know I'm going to have to bring a really good level of tennis if I want to get through it."
