The Golden State Warriors received good news regarding Stephen Curry with a second MRI on his troublesome right knee revealing no structural damage.

The two-time NBA MVP is still expected to miss at least another five games before being re-evaluated.

Curry last played Jan. 30. He has been diagnosed with patella-femoral pain syndrome/bone bruising, otherwise referred to as runner’s knee.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Curry will be re-evaluated in 10 days.

“It’s just lingering soreness,” Kerr said Thursday before a game against Boston. “We were hoping, obviously, that he’d be ready for tonight after getting the All-Star break but wasn’t the case. He just needs more time.”

The 37-year-old Curry is averaging 27.2 points per game this season for the Warriors, who enter Thursday eighth in the Western Conference, 2 ½ games ahead of the Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers. Falling to ninth or 10th would force Golden State to win two play-in games just to make the playoffs.
