Derby County have confirmed United States forward Patrick Agyemang will miss the World Cup due to an Achilles injury.

Agyemang suffered the injury during the first half of Derby's 2-0 victory over Stoke City on Monday, a result which saw the Rams move within one point of the play-off places in the Championship.

He made his USMNT debut under Mauricio Pochettino in January 2025, scoring in his first game, and has netted six goals in 14 total appearances for his country.

The 25-year-old scored against Belgium during the March international break, while he also came off the bench against Portugal; the USA lost both matches.

The Rams did not clarify the length of Agyemang's injury, but revealed he will miss this summer's World Cup, hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico.

"Everyone at Derby County is fully behind Patrick at this difficult time and will continue to support him every step of the way," the club said in a statement.

"As a result of this injury, Patrick will unfortunately miss this summer's FIFA World Cup. At this stage, it would be wrong to put a timeline on his recovery."

Agyemang has impressed for Derby following his move from MLS side Charlotte FC last summer, a deal which reportedly could rise to as much as £7.3m with add-ons.

He has directly contributed 13 goals in 37 Championship games this season, more than any other Derby player, while only Carlton Morris (11) has scored more league goals for the Rams this term than Agyemang (10).
