Tongue gives England hope of first Test win after Rahul and Pant tons
Josh Tongue's destructive burst kept England in their first Test against India at Headingley after two sensational centuries from KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant on day four.
Rahul's knock of 137 runs was accompanied by Pant's entertaining 118 to put the tourists in control before Tongue took three wickets in four balls to bowl India out for 364.
India set England a target of 371 for victory, with openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett leading the hosts to 21-0 and needing 350 runs to win on the final day of action.
Brydon Carse grabbed the early wicket England craved after dismissing captain Shubman Gill for eight runs, with India adding just 63 runs to their total in the first session.
But the dangerous Pant, along with Rahul, quickly found their groove and picked up their centuries from 202 and 130 deliveries, respectively, to put India in control.
The pair registered a 195-run stand for the fourth wicket as India led by 304 runs by tea, though Pant fell to Shoaib Bashir just before the end of the second session.
India, however, were unable to capitalise on their solid foundation following Rahul's dismissal in the 84th over, as they nosedived from 333-5 to 364 all out.
And it was Tongue who starred in India's collapse, claiming the wickets of Shardul Thakur (four), Mohammed Siraj (zero) and Jasprit Bumrah (zero) to finish with figures of 3-72.

Data Debrief: Pant makes history with back-to-back tons
Despite India's late collapse, the day very much belonged to Pant and Rahul, who led the tourists' charge with a sensational display of batting dominance.
Indeed, Pant (134 and 118) became the first Indian batter to score multiple centuries in a Test match in England. He's also the fourth Indian batter to score multiple tons in a Test match in a SENA nation, after Vijay Hazare, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli.
Pant's 252 runs in both innings at Headingley is also the most by an Indian wicketkeeper in a Test, surpassing Budhi Kunderan's 230 against England in Chennai in 1964.
And in Yashasvi Jaiswal, Gill, Rahul and Pant (twice), the Indian batters have scored a combined five centuries in the ongoing first Test, the first time they have done so in a Test match and the first time any visiting nation has done so in a game in England.
